Introduction
This book is the third of a series of three books. In this book you will find a story in easy German, which contains only neutral nouns. Yes that's right! In this story, there are no feminine or masculine nouns! In addition, this is a fairy tale, and it is written in the German Past Tense the “Präteritum”. All verbs can be found in the word list below the text. So you can easily understand and learn them. This will vastly improve your ability to read other German books. Nouns are very important in a text. In German they all start with a capital letter. That helps us to recognize them immediately. But for many learners of the German language, the three genders of German nouns represent a major learning difficulty. In addition, there are the articles and adjectives which change according to the noun. That is why I would like to show you German from a different perspective. All the nouns in the story are neutral. This means that all articles and adjectives in front of nouns are declined in the same way. And, this in turn, means that you can focus much more on this declination. You do not have to think about whether the noun is masculine, feminine or neutral. If you read the story and the tips, you will see how simple and clear the declination is if you focus on only one gender. You will understand the connection of neutral nouns to the article and the adjective, and will be able to internalize the declination much faster. All the nouns in this story are in context with each other. So you will remember that these nouns have appeared in the “neutral story” and must therefore be neutral. Try to form an image of the story as clearly as possible. The drawings will help you to produce a little movie of it in your brain. The clearer the images in your head, the longer they will stay there. It is a memory artist`s trick to memorize numerous words by linking them all through a story.
If we do not know the gender of a noun, we can use it anyway and we will usually be understood by our conversation partner, but our German will not sound very nice. These stories have been created to help you to improve your German and make it more beautiful. 70% of the 259 neutral nouns in this story are taken from the B1 vocabulary. With all three books from this series you can easily learn nearly 1000 nouns (volume 1: 383 masculine, volume 2: 339 feminine and volume 3: 259 neutral nouns) from everyday life. How to learn with the book. First you should try to read the story through to the end. You do not have to understand everything, but only need to grasp the general content. This will improve your ability to skim through a German text and make reading more fun!
But you also can learn very intensively with this book. How to do this click here:
